11:01 a.m., Feb. 25, Avenue Balboa

Someone used a stolen credit card to charge about $135 at an online dating Web site.

Half Moon Bay

12:57 a.m., Mar. 5, Highway 1

A drunken 52-year-old transient was yelling loudly at a gas station. Police arrested the man and took him to jail.

Animal abuse

2:06 p.m., Mar. 6, Washington Boulevard

A woman found her cat dead nearby her house and believed her pet had been poisoned. The woman wanted the incident documented, but police officers could find no indication that the cat had been killed.

Battery

7:30 p.m., Mar. 8, Touraine Lane

A married couple had a physical fight, leading police to intervene. The woman hit her husband on the back of his head, and he pushed her away in response. Police made no arrests, but they forwarded the case to the district attorney’s office.

Drugs

11:45 a.m., Mar. 4 Highway 1

Two high-school students appeared to be under the influence of marijuana at Strawflower Village. The two 14-year-olds were arrested and released to their parents.

5:25 p.m., Mar. 4, Kelly Avenue

A 22-year-old on probation was caught with methamphetamine. He was arrested and taken to jail.

Dumping

10:27 a.m., Mar. 5, Fairway Drive

Someone dumped a pile of charcoal and debris on private property.

Threats

Mar. 5, Terrace Avenue

A contractor reported that a business competitor was taking pictures of he and his wife as they were working. The contractor was working for a homeowner who had previously hired the person who was now pestering them. Police officers advised the contractor to file for a restraining order.

Vandalism

8:30 a.m., Mar. 7, Cypress Point Road

A golf ball from Half Moon Bay Golf Links crashed through the window of a nearby home. The woman who owned the home walked out to the fairway and confronted the player who made the stray shot. She got the man’s name and phone number, but he declined to say whether he’d pay for the broken window. The woman later called police to ask if they could force the golfer to compensate her. They told her that it wsa a civil issue and would have to be handled with a lawsuit.

La Honda

Vandalism

5 p.m., Mar. 3, Scenic Drive

Spray-paint graffiti was found on the doors of the Cuesta La Honda Guild and on the side of a nearby pump station. The vandalism caused about $400 in damage.

Montara

Theft

12:20 a.m., Feb. 25, Cedar Street

A homeowner was awakened in the middle of the night by his truck alarm, and he went outside to investigate. He found that someone had smashed his driver-side window to steal an iPhone left in the rear cab of the truck.

3 p.m., Feb. 26, Harte Street

A Motorola smart phone was stolen from a locked vehicle. The phone wasn’t in service and was supposed to be given away for charity.

7 p.m., Feb. 26, Harte Street

Someone stole a purse from an unlocked car. The purse contained an ATM card, various ID cards and about $9.

Moss Beach

Drugs

2 p.m., Feb. 28, California Avenue

Neighbors reported a strange man going door to door asking for money. Sheriff’s deputies located the man’s home and went there to confront him. He allowed them to search his bedroom and they found several glass pipes that could be used to smoke methamphetamines. Deputies believed the man was already under the influence of methamphetamines, and they arrested him.

Vandalism

6:28 p.m., Feb. 25, Airport Street

Someone intentionally damaged a convertible car parked on the side of the road by smashing the rear window, cutting large gashes in the car’s roof and scratching the exterior.

8:35 a.m., Feb. 28, Culebra Lane

An entrance sign for Pillar Ridge Manufactured Home Community was spray-painted with black paint. The damage was estimated to be about $100.

Pescadero

Fire

8:11 a.m., Mar. 1, North Street

Someone built an illegal bonfire on the schoolyard of Pescadero Elementary School, just a dozen feet away from school buildings. The fire wasn’t discovered until the beginning of the school week, when school officials found a pile of burnt logs and scrap wood left by the campus gymnasium. The school principal called for Sheriff’s deputies to investigate, and she explained that the reckless fire could have spread to other school buildings.

DUI

12:50 a.m., Feb. 25, Highway 92

Sheriff’s deputies on patrol pulled over to help a man working on his car on the side of the highway. The driver said he had been cut off by another driver, which somehow caused his car to get a flat tire. Deputies didn’t entirely believe his story, primarily because they could smell alcohol on his breath. The driver failed sobriety tests and was arrested.
