The city received the option to purchase the 12-acre Glencree property when it settled the Beachwood lawsuit. However, the city faced another land-use lawsuit from the Glencree owner, Merit Manor LLP, which alleged the city had to keep a vesting tentative map approved in the 1990.
The city-planning map originally allowed up to 48 single-family homes to be built on Glencree, which is east of Highway 1, just south of Grandview Boulevard. “

Dolder pointed out that development of the Glencree property is still uncertain. Any residential construction would still require a Coastal Development Permit, environmental review and compliance with the city’s land-use plan.
The City Council will vote on the settlement at its public meeting on Tuesday.
