Dressed primarily in red, the demonstrators waved placards and cheered for car honks at locations in Half Moon Bay, El Granada and Montara.
The Coastside rallies were part of the larger organized “Stand up for Schools” event organized to protest a possible $2.5 billion cut next year to the state education system, which comes after years of consecutive reductions.

The main public school system of the Coastside, the Cabrillo Unified School District, is currently facing $2.5 million in cuts for next year. District officials are promoting a local parcel tax measure on the June ballot to prevent the worst cuts to local schools.
