Local teachers, parents and students will drop the books and take it to the streets on Thursday morning as a show of support for local education.

Multiple Coastside rallies for public schools are being planned to protest ongoing cuts to education in California. The local event is part of the larger “Stand Up For Schools” walk-out at public schools and universities across the state.

Local organizers plan to demonstrate from 7 a.m. to 8:30 a.m. on Thursday at the corner of Highway 92 and Main Street in Half Moon Bay, and at Highway 1 and Capistrano Road in El Granada.

A Montara rally is also being planned, but no location has been confirmed.
