Montara-based nonprofit Not For Sale Campaign is partnering with employment services company Manpower Inc. in a global tour to spread awareness to future business leaders about modern slavery and forced labor, Manpower announced Tuesday.

The groups are converging in an effort to advance the fight against human trafficking and unfair labor practices via the “Stop Paying for Slavery Tour,” scheduled to hit 40 cities. The tour began Jan. 27 in Houston, according to the Not For Sale Web site.

The tour brings together educators, business leaders, law enforcement officials and faith communities for multi-day events and outreach programs at top business schools “to introduce the next generation of leaders to the urgency of the human trafficking problem, and the potential of social entrepreneurship to end it,” according to the announcement.

The tour “has tremendous potential to arm emerging business leaders with the information they need to end human trafficking for good,” said David Arkless, Manpower's President of Corporate and Government Affairs, in a prepared statement.

Montara resident David Batstone, co-founder and president of Not For Sale, calls the tour “revolutionary in its aim to engage consumers and corporate actors in practical solutions to root out slavery from our supply chains.”
