A woman heard someone knocking on her front door, and she spotted a man sitting on her porch. The woman called for police, who determined the suspicious person on the porch was actually her 17-year-old son. The woman had earlier called police to report her son as missing.
7:20 p.m., Jan. 15, Main Street
Reports of a drunken driver led police to pull over an elderly driver. The woman was determined to be perfectly sober, and she told police that she had a hard time seeing the road at night. Police referred her to the DMV to be re-evaluated for her driver’s license.

A woman found two unfamiliar purchases on her debit-card account. She reported the matter as a stolen identity case, believing the crime may be related to when she lost her wallet five years ago.

A woman at Seton Medical Center Coastside was searched on suspicion of drugs. Sheriff’s deputies found a bag of methamphetamine in her belongings, and they arrested her.

Someone smashed a side window of a parked van to steal three tires inside. The same thief also stole the van’s windshield wipers and smashed the windshield.

A stereo, amplifier and speaker were stolen from an unlocked car parked in a driveway.

Someone was throwing concrete bricks into a vehicle storage yard, smashing the car windshields. The business owner suspected some local criminals who were upset with him may have done the act.
