Bill Beckett was lucky. He got to do what he loved. He took his passion for the ocean, and made fishing his lifetime career.

In the1960s, he pioneered striped bass live bait fishing and chumming in San Francisco Bay. Told, “You can’t catch fish like that,” he obstinately proceeded to show them. Laws were made -- and later repealed -- to keep him from fishing in a way that successfully continues today.
He and his wife Peggy settled in Half Moon Bay in 1987 with their boat Red Baron, and later bought Huck Finn Sportfishing at Pillar Point.
People loved him or hated him - no middle ground. All respected his knowledge of fish.
Because of Alzheimer’s disease, it’s said Bill Beckett forgot more about fishing than we’ll ever know.
Ashes will be scattered at a later date, at sea.
