Born December 5, 1927 in Sao Jorge, Azores, he moved to Half Moon Bay in March of 1971 with his wife, Maria, and four children.

He passed away peacefully in his home at the age of 81 on the morning of January 9, 2009. He is preceded in death by his mother and father and three siblings. He is survived by his wife, Maria; daughters Alice Dias and Argilda Oliveira; sons Joe Parreira and Cesar Parreira; son-in-law Tony Dias; daughters-in-law Oswalda Parreira and Cindy Parreira; grandchildren Alvaro Dias, Alcidia Dias, Debbie & Eugenio Azevedo, Brenda Parreira, and Brandon Parreira; and great-grandchildren Ashley and Kevyn Azevedo. He is also survived by three sisters and three brothers in Sao Jorge, Azores and several nieces and nephews.

He had a passion for his family, his vegetable garden, and his long walks on the beach. He will be dearly missed by his family and friends.

Services were held at Our Lady of the Pillar Church on Sunday and he was laid to rest on Monday at Our Lady of the Pillar Cemetery.
